Colorful French Tips

I don't know if y'all can tell, but I've been having way to much fun with my new Cirque polishes.

I wore Arcane Fire on it's own for a while (see it here), but I wasn't ready to take it off when the finish started to chip. Instead, I added some colorful freehand french tips with Baptisia. The red and purple finishes went together beautifully, and I got alot of compliments on this look.

What is your favorite way to save a mani when it starts to chip?

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

French Tips in School Colors

Over the weekend the boyfriend graduated from Law School. I'm super proud of him, he worked so hard and I know he is glad to have a break from stress before he starts studying for the bar. The other good news that stems from him graduating is that we no longer have to be long distance. It was hard but totally worth it, and being able to come home to him every night now is so AWESOME!!! Love that guy!

Anyways, to celebrate his graduation, I did a manicure sporting school colors.

These are fairly simple for me, but I did like them. I started off with a base of OPI Glints of Glinda. This color is the perfect base for a french manicure. I then freehanded tips in OPI Eurso Euro. Next, I added rows of tiny dots in Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow. On the ring finger I added a rhinestone in yellow as well, just an added little pop.

If I had to do this mani over again, I would have taken the time to tape off straight lines for the yellow and the blue, but you know what they say about hind sight.

Have you had any big changes in your life lately?

Enjoy & until tomorrow, Amy Lee

Toning things down: Gradient French Tip

Usually I'm all "COLORS! GIVE THEM ALL TO ME!" and then every once in a while I overload my senses and have  to take a break. So today, I'm going to show you a fun but very neutral mani.

I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Bandage and Ivory Skull for this manicure. Both of these were limited edition colors last fall. They are two of my favorites in my collection. Ivory Skull is my go to white, I'm going to be bummed when I use it all. Before I show you the gradient, lets see these two colors on their own.

Here is Bandage. This color is extremely close to my skin tone, but not quite there. It's the closest I've gotten so far.

Look at that white. Ivory Skull applies like a dream and is opaque in two coats. Can't beat that. I've got other whites and boy they are finicky.

Basically I took a makeup sponge soaked in water and did a quick gradient with the two colors over my white base. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. And because I can't leave things alone, I topped it off with a quick dusting of China Glaze Fairy Dust. Want to see an up close look at those sparkles? Good, because I have one for you.

And there you have it, a great neutral manicure, that lasted a whole day and a half before my color cravings kicked back in. :-)

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
