Switching Post: Karel from Boom Shaka Lacquer

Hello everyone!  For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Karel (known as Relly to friends and family).  I’m the Indie polish fanatic over at Boom Shaka Lacquer.  I’ve been blogging about Indie nail polish for a couple of years and I still love them just as much if not more than I ever did!  Today is the first day of our Switching Post blogger collaboration and I can’t be more excited about it!

Today Amy from The Fancy Side and I decided to do a nail art theme of “Anti-Pastels.”  It seems like every Spring we are inundated with a slew of pastel offerings.  While I love Pastels I love other colors for Spring as well.  Today we did nail art looks featuring NEON colors!  I did two different fun and easy nail art looks using neon colors.

First I did an easy-peasy glitter gradient!

Glitter Gradient featuring Alchemy Lacquers – Fireworks

This fun glitter topper was part of the Alchemy Lacquers – Fire Bright Collection  which was released last summer!    Fireworks is a black and mixed-neon glitter topper with matte and satin glitters.

To create this look I started with a plain white base and then sponged the tips with the glitter topper.  I used a bit of a heavier hand because I really wanted the glitter to be the star of the show!  This is such an easy way to do something interesting and anyone regardless of nail art skills can do this!

Next I did a tape manicure, a little more complicated but still super easy to execute!  I’m all about nail art looks that look like they were a lot of trouble but in reality are not that difficult!

Tape Manicure featuring Crows Toes – Hooker at Heart
This is a fun abstract tape manicure featuring Crows Toes – Hooker at Heart, which I reviewed here. Hooker at Heart is a texture polish which makes it perfect for this kind of nail art!

To create this look I started with a silver chrome base color.  I then used striping tape to create the 80s throwback abstract designs.  I painted over the silver/tape combination with Hooker at Heart and quickly removed the tape before the top color was allowed to dry (this helps assure you’ll get clean lines!)  I didn’t topcoat it because I wanted the texture!  You could however topcoat it if you were so inclined or if you aren’t a fan of textured polish.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed our first Switching Post!  I’m excited to start this collaboration.  Please be sure to visit the other bloggers who have gotten together in this collaboration to check out their posts.  You can find and follow me on my blog and social media links:

I look forward to future switches and until then may your days be filled with Glitter and Flakies!

It Girl Fashion Plates - Part Quatre

I'm back with my second plate review from It Girl Nail Art for this new set of beautiful platesI've made it no secret that I love everything that Nicole puts out and IG-109 does not disappoint. This plate contains some negative space inspired images. Even though many of the images contain thin lines, they still pick up clean and crisp. All images were pulled with my Creative Shop Stamper and Konad Black polish. Check out all the cool looks below.

Now one of the images I did have issues with as you can see. I spoke with Nicole the maker and she gave me a bevy of tips to get the image. I'll be trying again soon, so wish my luck. I've seen plenty of other ladies do incredible manis with that stamp, so I know it is possible.

Now for the best part...plates IG-107, IG-108, and IG-109 have officially launched in Nicole's store. From today, March 4th to March 9th, you can buy all three in a bundle for $35 which is a super sale!! Also, there is no more pre-ordering and waiting for your plates...they are ready to rock now. So run quick and get these plates. You'll love them I promise.

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
