#TheLacquerRing: Spooky

#TheLacquerRing is back today with our final October prompt. Since it's Halloween in a few days the prompt was Spooky, which seems appropriate. I've done so many Halloween themed manis this month (it's been a serious take over) that I actually struggled with what to do for this look. Don't worry I came up with something. ;-)

I started with a base of LVX Anthracite, a deep gray creme. This beauty was easy to apply and covered in just two coats. Also, some of you may notice that I went back to the oval shape. Let the celebrations begin. They are short right now, because I'm still dealing with that break, but they are back in the much loved shape. It's weird how people were like "square..no, coffin....NO!"

Next I went i with Sinful Colors Snow Me White to create smoke trails following this tutorial. It was surprisingly easy to do.

For the last touch of my Spooky look, I created a decal with a terrifying ghost from MyOnline Shop JR-22 plate. I wanted it to look like he is coming out of the mists to get you.

And there you have it. That's my spooky look. Be sure to see all the other spooky manicures from the other ladies below.

#31DC2015: Black & White Nails

I'm going to make today's post for day 7 of the #31DC2015 short and sweet. One week down, three to go! Today's prompt is Black & White Nails. I went with a simple but fun look.

I started off with Cirque Colors Memento Mori, the gorgeous one coater black and LVX Fantom my favorite white. I then went in with Cirque Colors Phosphors (white glitter) and Cirque Colors Vectors (black glitter). I love these two glitters because they are so similar in design but obviously one is white and one is black. I adore the mix of shapes you get and the dash of holo sparkles in the base. They are perfection.

Tomorrow is Metallic Nails. I need to come up with a plan. Any ideas?

#StampingSaturday: Tri-Color Stamping

I'm aware that it is actually Sunday, but I had the busiest weekend ever. Some of my in-laws were in town to celebrate the BIL's birthday. We ate (alot), we saw a Broadway show, we raged (as my SIL calls hitting the bars), and we had tons of fun, but it didn't leave much time for blog posts. It really makes me wish I had tomorrow off to recover, but no such luck. Anywho...on to the mani.

I started with a base of LVX Oyster, a medium gray. This is two easy coats. I'm so in love with LVX polishes. Their formula is always spot on.

Next I went in with PUEEN Buffet 61 and OPI Live.Love.Carnival, Toucan Do It If You Try, and Where Did Suzi's Man-go? I totally stole this color combo from Reinovate (I think she does it WAY better than I do!)

Anywho, I'm going to try and get to bed semi-early today. I've got a full day tomorrow. Hope the rest of you enjoy your holiday!! Don't forget to add your stamped link below and see all the other designs!

#TheLacquerRing: Gold

#TheLacquerRing is back. This time the lovely Sibohan of For the Love of Nail Art had the pleasure of September picks. Since all of us know Sib well, it was no surprise when she announced that GOLD would be her color of choice. We don't call her the Gold Masta for nothing. ;-)

For my look I started off with a base of LVX Fantom, the perfect white. Seriously, love it so much. I then topped it with a generous coat of Nicole by OPI My Lips are Dripping Honey. This is a holographic gold hex glitter topper that screams Sibohan to me.

While that gold topper is pretty, it just wasn't enough. I needed to get mooooooore gold (Austin Powers anyone?) in this mani. I was inspired by this look from Pshiiit Polish, I went for a similar look in gold. I know she freehanded hers, but I did mine with two layers of striping tape. First I taped off the black chevron (Maybelline Color Show Onxy Rush) and then when that was dry added in the gold chevron (China Glaze Angel Wings).

So what do you think? I love the end result even if it does look a bit like CheerLeader Uniforms on crack. Don't forget to check out all the other gold mani's that CynthiaAmandaLesleyFrossoJessicaSiobhan, and Nicole came up with as well. You can see their looks below.

Neon Vacation Mani

So in my #StampingSaturday post I told you all that I got away for the weekend. J and I met up with his family in Nantucket and had a quick weekend away. It was so great to see everyone and we had a lovely time, minus the whole lobster impersonation I'm doing currently. ;-)

Of course I had to do vacay nails, so I set out to do a look that was summery and beachy. I chose to go with a sponged, random gradient of four neons and fun accent nails. I got so many compliments over the weekend on this look, and I couldn't stop staring at it myself.

To start off, I laid down a base of LVX Fantom on my thumb, pointer, and middle finger. On my ring and pinky I applied two thick coats of FUN Lacquer PayDay! Then on a cosmetic sponge I plopped down a big drop of China Glaze Thistle Do Nicely, That's Shore Bright, Highlight of My Summer, and Hanging in the Balance. I sponged it on in a random pattern on each nail.

My studio lighting washed out the neon a little, but my outdoor picture shows it off beautifully. PayDay! was the perfect accent to that neon!

Do you have any fun vacations planned for the rest of summer?  I can't believe it's almost August already.

Festive Fourth of July Nails

Tomorrow is my favorite holiday of all time. I know that some people may think thats a weird holiday to be my favorite but I love fireworks and setting them off makes my inner pyro happy. Sadly, living in NYC I won't get to set any off, but I'll still get to see an awesome display so I got that going for me.

This is the mani that I did for the holiday. I started off with a base of LVX Fantom on my thumb, pointer, pinky, and Color Club Harp on It, on my middle and ring fingers. I actually liked this clean and simple look and wore it on it's own for a few days.

I then covered Fantom in Serum No 5 What a Blast. This is a glow in the dark glitter topper packed with red, white, blue, and silver star glitters. It's amazeballs and perfect for the holiday!

I love the way this look came together. You get patriotic on three fingers and holographic sparkles that burst in the sun like fireworks on the other two. Its perfect for the holiday without having to put in to much effort.

Enjoy your holiday everyone! I'll see you on Saturday for #StampingSaturday.

#StampingSaturday: Lace Orchids

ITS THE WEEKEND! This week was long, but thankfully quiet at work. I'm so happy its the weekend. Today, Frosso and Amanda are coming to the city, and we are going to have a delicious amazing brunch, then do some polish shopping, and general shopping, damage. It's going to be a fun day.

Today's look for you starts with a base of LVX Orchid. This is from LVX's Spring collection and is their representation of the Pantone color of the year. Here you'll see 2 coats. Also, I should warn you. There are nubbins ahead. Due to that bad break on my thumb I filed all my nails down, so it didn't look so awkward.

Next I stamped over it with Konad White and MoYou Londons Bridal Collection Plate 06. It has all these awesome lace designs, I actually bought it to play with for my wedding in a few months. I need mani ideas for that people!

What do you think? I love the base color. It turned the white stamping polish a light lavender that ended up being very flattering to the base shade.

Don't forget to link up your stamped mani below and check out all the others who participated. If you are interested in sharing the link-up on your blog, follow the bottom link to get the proper code for your blog.

#StampingSaturday: Neon Cashmere

It's Stamping Saturday again, and I have some fun news. The girls and I have decided to open up Stamping Saturday for everyone. The link up will stay open through the week, so be sure to link up your fun stamped link below.

For my look this week I started with a base of LVX Cashmere. It's a beautiful soft gray polish that was opaque in 2 coats.

I then stamped on a fun geometric design from my MoYo London Explorer Plate 01, with China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.

Neons are notoriously hard to capture with my camera and I tried really hard to get an accurate picture for you. This manicure is SO amazing in real life and I can't stop staring at it.

Be sure to check out all the other #StampingSaturday looks below and link up your own.

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
