Digit-al Dozen: Science Fiction - Jurassic Park

Hey ya'll! Day 5 (woo-hoo I made it, despite a small child who makes things hard) of Digit-al Dozen Story Genres brings us to science fiction.  Jurassic Parks is one of those movies that I always stop and watch, no matter where it is and what I was looking for. I just love it. I love the book even more, so it seemed natural to pick this as one of my inspirations. So hold onto your butts, cause this look has lots of polishes in it!

I started with a base of Painted Polish Kissin' Kelp a deep teal scattered holo, with glints of gold. I thought it'd be the perfect base for what I had in mind.

I then went in with a ton of Painted Polish stamping polishes and MoYou London Tropical Collection 11 plate. I blopped on dots of polish from Tide Pool Teal, Stamped in Starfruit, Stamped in Greenery 2.0, and Stamped in Seafoam scrapped them all together for a fun mix and put lush leaves on four of my 5 fingers. On the ring finger I tried (real hard I promise) to freehand a t-rex. He's a little derpy and not at all intimidating, but he's sparkly so there is that. He's made with Painted Polish Stamped in Greenery, Midnight Mischief, Gaga for Greenery and MoYou London White Knight.

There you have it! 5 days, 5 story genres, 5 fun looks!

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Digit-al Dozen: Story Genres - Picture Book

Hey ya'll! Day 4 of Digit-al Dozen Story Genres brings us to picture books. Seeing as I have a tiny kiddo now, there is no shortage of picture books in my house. She's a little too young to appreciate them at the moment, so I tend to just read aloud to her from whatever I'm currently reading. I picked through her books though and pulled a favorite Little Golden Book from my childhood, The Poky Little Puppy.

For this look, I used a ton of polishes, I'll list them below. I used a combination of freehand painting and stamping to recreate one of the illustrations in the book. Hopefully you can tell it's the Poky Little Puppie's bum as he digs under a fence with a sign that clearly states "Don't Dig Holes". If you can't tell...just lie and tell me it's pretty. I'm out of practice.

On my thumb and pointer, I tried to recreate the Little Golden Books classic spine. The base is Cirque Colors 24K Affair and the details are freehanded with Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.  For the rest of my nails the base is OPI Be There in a Prosecco. I then used Painted Polish Stamped in Brick and Stamped in Sweet Potato to create the fences, partially with a design from MoYou London Pro Collection XL 01 plate. The puppies body is mostly MoYou London White Knight and detailing done with other polishes. Whew..that's alot. Anywho, hope you love it.

Digit-al Dozen: Story Genres - Mystery

The Digit-al Dozen is doing Story Genres this month. For my third look I decided to tackle mystery, specifically Sherlock Holmes.

I started off with a base of NCLA Saltwater Baths, a medium blue holo. This was two easy coats.

I then went in with a wavy design from Uber Chic UC 4-03 and double layered in colors with MoYou London White Knight and Painted Polish Stamped in Mint. I then sponged on a few dabs of Polish M Baby It's Cold Outside to "weather" the stamping. Finally I stamped on some mystery and Sherlock inspired designs from My Online Shop JR-31 in Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.

Be sure to check out all the other designs that are below. There are some really amazing ones!

Digit-al Dozen: Story Genres - FairyTales

The Digit-al Dozen is doing Story Genres this month.  I decided to do Fairy Tales. For my base I started with Ever After Polish Give My Regards to Broadway. This is a is a mauve crelly filled with holo shimmer and flecks. This polish is super pretty and I absolutely love the way it looks.

I then went in with Painted Polish Stamped in Wine and stamped on designs from two Uber Chic plates UC 1-02 and UC Fairytale-01. I tried to layer some white (MoYou London White Knight) under my roses, but it didn't work out quite the way I imagined.

The Digit-al Dozen - Story Genres - Magical Realism

Hey ya'll. Long time no blog. I have a good reason. I promise. You see, I've spent the last year growing and now trying to exist with my sweet baby girl. It wasn't an easy pregnancy and I pretty much only had the bandwidth for work/sleep/eat which was all accompanied by hypermesis gravadium. If you don't know what that is, look up Princess Kate's pregnancy. It is the same horrible thing.

Anywho, my sweet baby girl is now almost three months old and life is resuming a new version of normal. I've missed blogging and doing my nails, so I'm going to make an effort to get back into things. Currently my goal is to just participate in the Digit-al Dozen prompts and then grow from there if I have the time.

The Digit-al Dozen is doing Story Genres this month.  I decided to start out with Magical Realism and tackle yet another Harry Potter mani. For my base I used Polish M Joyous and stamped on designs from My Online Shop plates JR-91 and JR-2 using Painted Polish Midnight Mischief.

Below is a swatch of Joyous. This is a silver holographic base filled with rainbow flakes. It was opaque in two coats and super easy to apply.

There it is. All finished. Here's hoping I make it through the week! Fingers crossed.

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
