AEngland Crown of Thistles & New Years Resolutions

So two things are going to happen in this post. One: I'm going to show you my favorite polish of the year and Two: I'm going to tell you about my New Years Resolution. Lets start with #2 because I like to mix things up.
So here is my dirty secret. I own a lot of nail polish. Ok so maybe that isn't so dirty or much of a secret. Life of a nail blogger y'all! But heres the thing, I own enough that I could do two manicures a day for the next year and still have some left over. Crazy...I know. But I also know people who own a lot more than I do, so I'm only like schmedium bad. Now for the resolution!
In 2015 I will buy NO nail polish. (I know right?) I just died a little inside typing that. So each month, I'm going to put $30 in a jar and at the end of the year hopefully I'll have $360 to splurge with. Believe me at the end of 12 months the wish list will be very long! There are a few caveats...base and top coat don't count, I will still accept press samples, and gifts will be welcome *hint hint husband!*
The other cool thing is I'm going to try and do more giveaways this year. I have 4 lined up already and I think you'll be super excited about them!
Now on to the reason we're all here. Polish! This is AEngland's Crown of Thistles. When Adina dropped the new Elizabeth & Mary collection, I knew this one needed to be mine. Which then caused me to stalk her stockists online for several months until I managed to snag it. This amethyst holographic purple is absolutely stunning and I love everything about it.
So what do you think of the polish? Or how about my crazy town resolution? What are your resolutions for the new year, are they polish related like mine?
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Royal Presents

OK....SO..... I know I told you all I was done with holiday looks, but I just found this in my draft folder. I completely forgot about it. I need to show it to you while I still can...so last minute holiday post. Hope you all don't mind.
So this post is two of my favorite Indie Brands in one. F.U.N. Lacquer and Cirque Colors. Loving both of these polishes! The holo is F.U.N. Lacquer Royal Chapel and the silver is Cirque Mirror Mirror. I cannot get enough of these two polishes.
Then because I'm a crazy person I decided to paint on ribbons as if my nails are presents. I used OPI This gown needs a Crown and black acrylic paint.
Honestly this was one of my least favorite looks of the season, which probably explains why I forgot about it in my drafts. OOPS.
What are you all doing for NYE? Have you done your NYE manis yet? I don't know what I want to do....I'll probably throw something together at the last minute.
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Triplets: Flowers and Chevrons
Monday, December 29, 2014
12/29/2014 11:00:00 AM
So Cynthia, Voni, and I got a wild idea to collaborate on a post. We decided to recreate this particular print from Society 6. Part of the fun of doing something like this is to see how we all interpret it differently. I went for a fairly spot of version, except my flowers are a bit abstract vs. literal.
My base is OPI You're So Vain-illa. I then added chevrons using mini chevron nail vinyls and OPI 4 in the Morning. I did the flowers with Sally Hansen's I <3 Nail Art pens in Orange #330, Yellow #320, Magenta #390, and Turquoise #450. I then topped everything off with Revlon's Matte top coat.
The nail art pens are amazingly easy to work with and they have a fine tip that allows you to get great fine detail when using them. I can totally see myself using them in the future. What do you think of my version? Check out Cynthia and Voni's versions below!
Final Holiday Look of 2014
Sunday, December 28, 2014
12/28/2014 08:17:00 PM
Just a quickie post to show you the look I wore on Christmas. It was a simple 3 part mani. I started off with a base of Cupcake Polish Just Sleighing Around. A gorgeous reddish pink soft holo polish, this is 2 coats.
I then used curved nail vinyls to block out a "negative" space and filled in one side with Cupcake Polish Ornamentary My Dear (champagne gold) and Cupcake Polish Deck the Malls (green).
It's a simple but festive look. This is the end of holiday looks for me. I'm not going to lie...I'm going to miss them. But we have all the holidays ahead of us, so I'll just have to look forward to those. Are you all thinking of your New Years Resolutions yet? I know mine and it's kinda crazy. I'll fill y'all in later.
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

#StampingSaturday: Glam Snowflakes
Saturday, December 27, 2014
12/27/2014 06:27:00 PM
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday! My Christmas was great. The hubs and I spent the day together and we saw the Hobbit which I'd been wanting to see. However my days are all mixed up and I completely forgot it was Saturday until I saw Cynthia's post. Good thing I had my look done, but still...I need to get my act together.
Today's look is done with Glam Polish's Don't Stop Believing as my base. In case you missed it, I'm giving away a bottle so be sure to check out the previous post. *wink* I stamped on various snowflakes from W-120 with Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I then added on some half pearl accents for an extra little touch.

Today on the blog I have a gorgeous polish that comes straight to you from Down Under. Glam Polish is an Australian indie brand that I die for. They had a sale a while ago and I couldn't resist some of the beauties. I'm "not sure" (thats what we'll say if my husband asks) how but I ended up with two bottles of Don't Stop Believing. So because I like you all and its Christmas time, one lucky person will win the "extra." YAY!!
But lets take a look at what you could win! Don't Stop Believing is a charcoal gray holographic polish that also has gold flecks which gives it that extra sparkle.
Seriously those rainbows are stunning! Use the widget below to enter. Giveaway is open Internationally but if you know polishes aren't going to make it through your customs, please don't enter. Giveaway will run through January 1st!! Good luck everyone!

Christmas Gone Plaid
Sunday, December 21, 2014
12/21/2014 10:00:00 AM
Green polishes are usually hit or miss with me. But let me tell you, OPI Christmas Gone Plaid is a total hit! This dark forest green is super pretty. I wore it on its own for a day or two, but of course I had to spice it up a bit.
I topped Christmas Gone Plaid with Salon Perfect Champagne Toast. This is essentially CG Fairy Dust but gold glitters instead of silver. I then used Smitten Polish Between the Baubles (green holo) and China Glaze GR8 (gold holo) to add some plaid striping.
I really like the end result of this look. It's simple, easy to do, yet very festive.
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

#StampingSaturday: Cosmos & Kaleidoscopes
Saturday, December 20, 2014
12/20/2014 10:00:00 AM
I'm going to make this post for #StampingSaturday nice and quick. I started off with a base of Polished by KPT's Mars Escapade (purple) and Light Years (silver). Mars Escapade is a gorgeous thermal that ranges from purple when cold to reddish orange when warm.
I then used Konad Black and MoYou London Kaleidoscope 06 to stamp on some fun patterns over Light Years.
Don't forget to check out the other stamped looks as well!!
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Holly Back Girl
Friday, December 19, 2014
12/19/2014 10:00:00 AM
There is something about Christmas polishes. They are so fun and festive, I just have to use them all. Today I have KBShimmer Holly Back Girl (love that name)! This is a white crelly base filled with red and green glitters. Application is easy and it took just two coats for full coverage.
I decided that Holly Back Girl needed some holly to accent it. I used all acrylic paints to free hand the holly on my thumb and middle finger.
What do you think, shiny or matte?
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

#TheLacquerRing: Stars
Thursday, December 18, 2014
12/18/2014 10:00:00 AM
#TheLacquerRing is back for the second prompt of the month. This month Lesley aka @msfitlesly has picks. For the color prompt she chose magenta which you may remember. For the art prompt she chose stars. I cannot wait to see how everyone interprets this prompt. I think I came at it from left field but I love my end design.
Lets start with my base. This is two gorgeous coats of Morgan Taylor Super Ultra Violet. Super Ultra Violet is a "blurple" it straddles the line between navy and deep purple.
I then sponged on ILNP Supernova on in random patterns on my nails. This is one of the new Ultra Chrome Flakies. I had such a hard time capturing the color shift on my nails. It goes from green, blue, and purple in the right lighting.
Finally I did my stars. I looked up constellation patterns and dotted on "stars" in the patterns of the constellations. On my thumb you'll find Leo, pointer is the Big Dipper, middle is Orion (MY FAVE), ring finger is Cassiopeia, and my pinky is Aires.
I love the idea of doing the constellations on my fingers. My dad taught me how to pick them out when I was little, so it was fun to use them in nail art.
Don't forget to check out everyone else's "Star" looks, the links are below.
Which constellation is your favorite? Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
