On Saturday Frosso from Lacquer Me Silly took the train into the city and we had all the fun shopping at a giant craft fair, where Cirque happened to have a booth. Okay, so we went mainly for Cirque but we scored some other awesome stuff too. I'll show you my haul soon, but first I want to show you the nails I wore for the momentous meet up.
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
I used 3 polishes for this look. China Glaze Aquadelic (light teal), OPI Fly (dark creme teal), and I Love NailPolish's Admire Me (holographic teal) for this look. As you can tell my thumb got stripes, cheeta print on the pointer, chevrons for the middle finger, polka dots on the ring, and stair steps on the pinky. I love this manicure and kind of don't want to take it off, but I will tomorrow so I can put on other pretties. ;-) This manicure was inspired by u/annimus_prime of Reddit.

The Syrup Mani.....Am I doing this right?
Tuesday, July 9, 2013
7/09/2013 11:52:00 AM
Recently I saw a tutorial on how to do Syrup Nails. Seems simple enough, I've got jelly polishes, I'm going to give this one a go. And I did. Aaannnd I'm not sure I did it right, or maybe I chose a bad polish for this look. Anywho, here are the nails.
For this look I used China Glaze Keepin' it Teal, from their summer Sunsational Collection. There isn't a whole lot to tell you about this mani. One color (odd for me) and one simple technique (also odd for me).
I did this look for a long weekend at the lake, and it lasted well for the most part.
Have you tried syrup nails? What did you think of them?
Enjoy & until tomorrow, Amy Lee

Salon Perfect Neon Collision Collection
Monday, June 17, 2013
6/17/2013 01:02:00 PM
Today I have the 6 polishes of a new collection from Salon Perfect. I've been pretty excited about these polishes since hearing about them. I searched all over several Wal-Marts to find them before they put out the big displays. Mostly because I'm an impatient polish whore.
These are from the new Neon Collision collection by Salon Perfect. Salon Perfect is available at Wal-Mart and they retail for only $3.98 so they are very affordable. I also happen to know that these are made by the same company as China Glaze, so you can't go wrong purchasing them.
Up first we have Jolt. Jolt is a micro matte glitter bomb packed with neon yellow and neon orange glitters. I've done three layers of Jolt on all fingers except my ring finger. On the ring finger, I've layered one coat over Sally Hansen's Ivory Skull.
Bang is a micro matte glitter bomb packed with neon orange and neon yellow glitters. I've done three layers of Bang on all fingers except my ring finger. On the ring finger, I've layered one coat over Sally Hansen's Ivory Skull.
Next we have Shocked. Shocked is a micro matte glitter bomb packed with neon magenta and neon blue. I've done three layers of Shocked on all fingers except my ring finger. On the ring finger, I've layered one coat over Sally Hansen's Ivory Skull. This is one of my favorites. It's so yummy.
Exploded is a micro matte glitter bomb packed with neon pink (which reads very orange) and neon yellow glitters. I've done three layers of Exploded on all fingers except my ring finger. On the ring finger, I've layered one coat over Sally Hansen's Ivory Skull.
Finally we have Kaboom. Kaboom is a micro matte glitter bomb packed with neon teal and neon green glitters. I've done three layers of Kaboom on all fingers except my ring finger. On the ring finger, I've layered one coat over Sally Hansen's Ivory Skull.
Four out of these six polishes have a match so to speak. They are the same color combos they just switch which color is dominant. I've done a comparison here. Bang and Jolt both have the neon orange and neon yellow glittlers, while Zapped and Kaboom both have the teal and neon green. Personally I feel like Exploded (neon pink) looks so similar to Bang, I would have liked to see them do a more neon blue with the magenta like Shocked and continue that theme.
Formula wise, I was a little terrified. I first swatched Jolt, and it was terribly thick and gritty. However, I think this was a fluke as all the others applied beautifully, layered well, and dried fairly smooth. I'm going to apply thinner to Jolt and I have a feeling it will right all the problems I experienced. These polishes build up to opaqueness by three layers so are easy to wear on their own or they layer well on top of polish undies. I've also discovered that Seche Vite doesn't go well with these polishes. I think its because there is no color in the base pigment, so it has nothing to grip to. If you use a normal (not fast dry top coat) they last much longer.
Personally my picks from this collection are Shocked and Kaboom. If you want an orangey one, go with Exploded.
Which color is your favorite?

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Swatches: Part 2
Thursday, June 6, 2013
6/06/2013 01:30:00 PM
The other day on Facebook (have you liked my page yet?) I showed you that I have no self control. When I stumbled on a Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat display at Walmart and this one had all the colors including the two I didn't have, well you know what happened. Of course they came home with me.
So today, I'm going to show you Tight Knit and All Yarned Up. As in the first post, which you can view here I've shown the polish over polish undies on my thumb, ring, and pinky fingers. On my pointer and middle fingers you'll see three coats of the polish built up.
All Yarned Up is made up of periwinkle, yellow, and peach matte bar glitters. I've layered it over Essie Nice is Nice.
Tight Knit is made up of royal blue and white matte bar glitters. I've layered it over Essie First Timer.
So what do you think of these colors? Do you have a new favorite? I do!
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Getting my texture on...

Hey Lovies! Today is supposed to be filled with storms and I'm spending my day dealing with my phone company. Sounds fun huh? It totally is. ;-)
Today, I've got some fun textured gradient nails to show you. I've been intrigued by the idea of doing a gradient with the liquid sand finish every since I got my first one, so I finally decided to give it a try.
For this look, I've used a base of OPI Honey Ryder (gold) and then sponged on the tips with Julie G's Rock Candy (teal). I really enjoyed this look and the texture of the polishes made doing this gradient super easy.
What do you think of the textured polishes? Still awesome or are you over it? I'm in the "still awesome" group!
Enjoy & until tomorrow, Amy Lee

Tangerine Dream & Rock Candy
Thursday, May 2, 2013
5/02/2013 03:08:00 PM
Hey All! I'm back today to show you the second installment of the Julie G Frosted Gumdrops swatches. Today I've got Tangerine Dream and Rock Candy to show you.
Tangerine Dream is a very pretty orangey-yellow with tiny gold sparkles in it. Looking at this collection, I thought this would be my least favorite and I was pleasantly surprised. While I think this color will look better on me while I'm a bit more tan during the summer, I love it.
Application for Tangerine Dream was easy, but it is a the sheerest of the six colors. I ended up using three coats here. As usual I waited in between each coat to minimize dragging.
Next up we have Rock Candy. Those of you that know me in real life know teal is my favorite color. So its no surprise that Rock Candy is my favorite from the collection. Hello Gorgeous! Rock Candy is a medium teal with silver sparkles and larger silver hex glitters in the mix.
Application was easy and you're looking at two coats here as well. I ended up actually swatching Rock Candy last and wearing it for a few days. I had no problems and only a small chip before I removed it. Removal of these polishes is easiest with the foil method, as the remove very similar to glitter polishes.
What do you think of these colors? Do you have a favorite?
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Ski Teal we ...DOT?
Monday, April 1, 2013

So I've really been into Dots lately. My dotting tool and I are quickly becoming best friends. I swear every other manicure I do, I reach for the dotting tool. It's so easy and such a quick way to add interest to a manicure without investing a lot of time. With this manicure I started with a base of OPI's Ski Teal We Drop. This is another pretty that I snatched up in the random buy 1 get 2 sale.
The photo with flash is closer to the color in the bottle. I'm a horrible person and forgot to take a photo of the base color for ya'll before I dotted it up. Forgive me? Please? I'm so glad we got that out of the way. I promise to be better in the future.
Here it is with flash. Again, you get a better color representation, but it washes everything else out. The dots were done with Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Ivory Skull. This is a great white and I find myself reaching for it more than the other more expensive ones I own.
What is your favorite color? I'd love to hear.
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
This polish is sooooo gorgeous. I'm in love. It probably helps that teal is my all time favorite color. The above photo shows Ski Teal We Drop with no flash. This is a hard color to capture. Below you'll see a photo with flash.

Here is another picture without flash. For some reason my hands look sooo red in this picture. It looks like they are sunburnt. Anyways, Ski Teal We Drop is a one-coater. It's so darkly pigmented and goes on so smoothly, all you need is one coat. I'm wearing two thin coats here, just because I'm used to two and it feels weird if I don't do two. It's a pretty color, but I learned the hard way that it is prone to staining. I had a hard time cleaning up around the edges, so be careful when using this polish.
What is your favorite color? I'd love to hear.
