#TheLacquerRing: Snowflakes

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet mainly because it's late and I feel the rush to get these bad boys posted. #TheLacquerRing is back with the final post of 2015 and the prompt is snowflakes.

For my look I started with a base of Orly MirrorBall. Can we talk about how stunning this is? I missed the initial craze for this and just picked it up recently. That was obviously the wrong choice, but I'm happy to have it now. Don't mind the super shiny skin...I got a little aggressive with the cuticle oil and didn't realize it until I was editing the photos.

I added in snowflakes using the Uber Chic Christmas-01 plate and a combo of Mundo de Unas stamping polishes. The dark blue is Iris, the minty blue is Turquoise, and the lightest blue is Aqua. I painted on thin stripes then scraped at an angle to mix the colors.

Be sure to check out the other snowflake mani's from the talented ladies below. I'm really enjoying the way mine came out, what do you think?

#ThePolishedBookworms: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

You may remember that I'm part of a little group called The Polished Bookworms. This is a group for polish lovers to get together read a fun book, discuss, and then do a mani inspired by the book. If this sounds like something you'd like, maybe you should join us. *hint hint*

Anyways, I was inspired by the book in so many ways. There were so many quotes that stuck out. I started with a base of Zoya Storm, which is obviously the best choice for a galaxy base ever!

I then used a bunch of polishes to create a galaxy look. Light blue is Zoya Rocky, dark blue is OPI Eurso Euro, also used were Orly After Party, and Morgan Taylor If the Slipper Fits. I then stamped on stars with Uber Chic 2-03 and Sinful Colors Snow Me White, topping it all off with China Glaze Fairy Dust.

Once my galaxy was done, I decided to pay tribute to the most integral part of the book. "Don't Panic" is the first thing every time you check the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. “I like the cover," he said. "Don't Panic. It's the first helpful or intelligible thing anybody's said to me all day.” - Arthur Dent.  The words were done with OPI This Gown Needs a Crown and Konad Black.

On my thumb I give you the answer to the question, the BIG question. “The Answer to the Great Question... Of Life, the Universe and Everything... Is... Forty-two,' said Deep Thought, with infinite majesty and calm.”

If you stuck it out this long, perhaps you'd like to take a peek at other ladies who did a Hitchhiker's Guide looks as well.

Orly Angel Eyes

Today I have an oldie but a goodie on the blog for you. This polish has been around for a while, but you can still get it I believe.

Also, just so you guys know...I got stung by a bee the other day and I'm all swollen and gross looking, including my hands. But I'm not going to let that get in the way off life. So...lets look at Orly Angel Eyes. Angel Eyes is a mix of small bright blue glitter and blue hex glitter. It's a little sheer at first but builds up nicely to full opacity. I used three thin coats here with wait time to minimize dragging.

APRIL FOOLS! I'm sure you all figured that out, these are obviously my hubby's fingers who is a VERY good sport. Thanks for letting me pretend I pranked you.

#StampingSaturday: Happy Valentines Day!

Hey y'all! It's been a crazy whirlwind week for me. I've been looking at apartments, going on interviews, working New York Fashion Week, puppysitting, and more. If you don't follow me on Instagram, go check out my feed to see all the behind the scenes shots from my NYFW experience. It was crazy cool, emphasis on the crazy.

Today for #StampingSaturday I'm bringing you a neutral based Valentine's look. I started with a base of Butter London's Cuppa, a beautiful tan cream. It's the exact shade of your tea after a splash of milk. Yum! On my thumb and ring finger I used Barry M Duchess, a beautiful rose gold textured polish. Love this one!

I then used Orly Rage, a beautiful rose gold shade to stamp on some hearts. It's a subtle rose gold look, but if you know me, you know I love rose gold, so win win!!! I know the plate is a Bundle Monster plate but I don't know the # off the top of my head. Sorry.

There it is. Do you all have special plans for Valentine's Day? Or will you be participating in Galentine's Day?

#StampingSaturday: Irresistible Gold

For #StampingSaturday this week I decided to add to a mani I had already done. I took Seche Irresistible* and embellished it.

I took off my ring finger polish and replaced it with Kays Masquerade. I got Masquerade in my Ninja Polish Grab bag, which I'm so happy I purchased! Masquerade is a gold and pink glitter bomb that is super pretty and covers completely in just two coats. I then used Orly Luxe and MoYou Explorer Plate 03 to add some henna type looks.

I hope everyone has a fun weekend! We're going to a Broadway Show tonight as part of my Christmas gift and I'm so excited! Can't wait! Be sure to check out the other stamping ladies below and join in your self!!

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

#StampingSaturday: Gold Flowers

I feel like I've been slacking lately on getting #StampingSaturday posts up, so this week I made sure I had one ready to show y'all. As you can tell from my last post, I love teal. After pulling all those polishes out, I decided to throw on AEngland St. George for a few days.

After wearing St. George on its own for two days, I stamped on some gold flowers using the MoYou Explorer Plate 03 and Orly Luxe. On two fingers I went with OPI Gaining Mole-mentum as an accent.

Don't forget to add your Stamped mani to the link up below. It's always fun to look at who is participating each week!

Am I in Purgatory?

Or am I wearing Purgatory? I Love Nailpolish Purgatory to be exact. ;-) Purgatory is part of the ILNP Rich Effect collection and it has a deep teal base filled with duochrome navy/teal sparkles. I recently saw this youtube tutorial by Mr.Candiipants where she teaches how to do the design on my accent nail. I decided that I wanted to practice my line work and give it a try. Pretty much it turned out horrible, but yeah, still thought I would show you. I used all ILNP polishes to fill in the colors they are: purple - Grape Aliciousness, pink - Molly, blue - Exodus. The stripes were done with my Orly Instant Artist striper in White.

What do you think of this color? I thought I would love it more than I actually did. It's probably because it stained the crap out of my skin.

Cirque Cypress and Tribal Nail Art

Hi all! I meant to post this yesterday, but I've been opening all week so I was completely wiped out when I got home. So instead I have it for you today.

Cypress was my gateway drug to the Cirque brand. It's this gorgeous nude holographic polish that is stunning in sunlight and indirect lighting. Here you can see two easy coats that applied like butter. Seriously, those rainbows!

After wearing it on its own for a few days, I decided I wanted to try some nail art over it. I became obsessed with pairing it with a cobalt blue, so I got out my Orly Nail Artist striper and played around. The beauty of these are they are water based so if you mess up, you can swipe it off with a wet paper towel and then start over.

It's not the best job I've ever done, but seeing as I was just playing around it was good enough.

What do you think?

Stamping Saturday #5: Valentines Pink & Gold

It's that time again, Stamping Saturday. I know you al have been waiting anxiously to see what I would come up with. Not to mention what the other ladies who participate will come up with.

For my base, I started off with Orly Miss Conduct. This is a bright pink jelly polish that is filled with silver holographic particles. It's actually very similar to Zoya Aurora and Dream

Pretty, huh? I then stamped on some fun designs using Bundle Monster Plates BM412 and BM416 with China Glaze Passion. Passion is my go to gold polish for stamping. I wanted to do a Valentine-sy type manicure without being over the top. Is this over the top? It probably is. Ah well!

Be sure to check out the other lovely ladies who are participating. Links are below.

Safari X's

I don't think it's a secret that I like to browse Pinterest to gain inspiration for mani's. Sometimes I'm just not feeling super original, so I head over there to the abundance of nail art and designs. Today's manicure was inspired by this pin, however when I reverse search the image, it takes me to a prom dress shop, which is weird. If you know the originator, please let me know so I can credit them properly.

Anywho, I really wanted to use China Glaze I Herd That for my glitter. I LOOOVE that glitter. If you take one thing away from this blog, ever, it should be get I Herd That and I'm Not Lion from the On Safari Collection!! Do it!!

The creme color is China Glaze Purr-fect Plum, also from the On Safari Collection. The X's were done with an Orly Instant Artist striper in white. My lines aren't as crisp as I'd like, but I really enjoy the look of this manicure.

What do you think of this look? Do you have a favorite glitter polish?

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Zoya Dream Triangles

Yesterday, this was a top post on r/RedditLaqueristas. If you don't know about Reddit, I'm not sure if I should be sorry that I introduced you or proud of myself. Let me know later how I should feel. Anywho, my friend Brandon saw that post and requested that I do similar nails. So here is my ode to u/WarofArt and her pretty fingers.

Since I just got Zoya Dream, from their Holiday Collection, I decided that I wanted to use that on all my fingers. For the base on my accent nail I went with OPI Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?. I then applied striping tape and filled in the triangles with Dream, Zoya Aurora (purple), Orly Miss Conduct (pink), and Orly Sparkling Garbage (green). I chose these four polishes because they all have similar shimmer within in the polish. Love all of these polishes.

Do you love this look, because I sure do.

Enjoy & Until next time, Amy Lee
