The Fancy Side

Before we get to nails, is anyone else watching Carrie Underwood and her live Sound of Music? It is awful...I feel like they are ruining my childhood. It makes me sad, because I love Carrie, but this....this is just murder. Ugh.

Okay, rant over. So there is some good news in my life. I got a job!! Yay!!! I started today and until I get a feel for things I'm keeping my nail looks fairly simple until I get a feel for whats kosher. I have a feeling that they don't really care much about crazy nails, but I'm going to go slowly for the moment.

I did wear China Glaze's Bat My Eyes the other day. I LOVE this polish. It was part of the most recent Halloween collection, but my order got SUPER delayed so I didn't receive it until a few weeks ago.

China Glaze makes the best full coverage glitter polishes. It seems like in every holiday collection there is at least 3 or 4 amazing full coverage glitters and I have to buy them all. I love a good glitter polish. 

Today I have my final Halloween mani for y'all. I had another interview yesterday, so I wore my base of China Glaze Jungle Queen, for a day before adding the extra elements.




The next day I added a layer of Nail Pattern Boldness Bitches Brew. Love the name, love the polish.




Bitches Brew is a fantastic glitter topper that contains tiny orange hexes, tiny yellow and green squares, small purple, orange, and bright blue hexes. It is so freaking bitchin' plus it has all the halloweeney colors, so who can complain?

After wearing this on its own for a while, I was all, I'm going to stamp on an awesome ghost and it'll be so freaking great. Unfortunately, I wish I hadn't done the stamping bit, but in the world of honest blogging, here is my fail.

I know things have been CAH-RAY-ZEE around the blog lately. But with the big move, then leaving for China tomorrow, I'm sure you can imagine what my life has been like lately. The good news is we're all settled in our new place. (NO POLISH CASUALTIES) To bad we leave for close to 3 weeks tomorrow. :-)

Anyways, I've got a few manis I want to show you before I leave. Today, I have a mani created with 3 OPI polishes.



 Naturally I cried all over the place. Plus the ring is so stunning. I can't stop looking at my hand, and this time it has nothing to do with my finger nails. ;-) It's a yellow sapphire surrounded by diamonds, which is exactly what I wanted!!


I've got one more post to get up before I leave, so expect one tomorrow as well. Can't wait for you all to see what I have cooked up over there!!!

I feel like I should apologize for the spazticness (its a real word, I promise!) of my blogging as of late. Between trying to sell my house, car, furniture, packing, and saying goodbye to loved ones it has been absolutely insane around here. We leave bright and early Tuesday morning for NYC. Crazy right?

Anyways, today I have a polish combo that I absolutely love to show you. Again, I'm sorry for the super nubs! But one advantage to the super nubs, is polish has staying power. I'm on day 5 of this mani, and it's seen fishing, 4-wheeling, packing, horses nibbling at my fingers for more treats, and a whole lot more. (Also the pictures were taken on day 5, tell me you aren't impressed!) I'm hoping it'll last till NYC, and then I'll have time to change it.

Bang is a micro matte glitter bomb packed with neon orange and neon yellow glitters. I've done three layers of Bang on all fingers except my ring finger. On the ring finger, I've layered one coat over Sally Hansen's Ivory Skull.






This is Zapped. Zapped is a micro matte glitter bomb packed with neon green and neon teal glitters. I've done three layers of Zapped on all fingers except my ring finger. On the ring finger, I've layered one coat over Sally Hansen's Ivory Skull.




Finally we have Kaboom. Kaboom is a micro matte glitter bomb packed with neon teal and neon green glitters. I've done three layers of Kaboom on all fingers except my ring finger. On the ring finger, I've layered one coat over Sally Hansen's Ivory Skull.




Four out of these six polishes have a match so to speak. They are the same color combos they just switch which color is dominant. I've done a comparison here. Bang and Jolt both have the neon orange and neon yellow glittlers, while Zapped and Kaboom both have the teal and neon green. Personally I feel like Exploded (neon pink) looks so similar to Bang, I would have liked to see them do a more neon blue with the magenta like Shocked and continue that theme.

Formula wise, I was a little terrified. I first swatched Jolt, and it was terribly thick and gritty. However, I think this was a fluke as all the others applied beautifully, layered well, and dried fairly smooth. I'm going to apply thinner to Jolt and I have a feeling it will right all the problems I experienced. These polishes build up to opaqueness by three layers so are easy to wear on their own or they layer well on top of polish undies. I've also discovered that Seche Vite doesn't go well with these polishes. I think its because there is no color in the base pigment, so it has nothing to grip to. If you use a normal (not fast dry top coat) they last much longer.

Personally my picks from this collection are Shocked and Kaboom. If you want an orangey one, go with Exploded.
