The Lacquer Ring: Unicorns Unite!

Hello All! Today I am very excited to announce that I have joined up with a group of some of my best bloggy friends to create a new joint venture called The Lacquer Ring. Each month one of us will pick two prompts (one color based and one design based) and we'll all post those looks together. For our inaugural post, we've all decided to post manicures using a mutual polish, Candy Lacquer's Unicorn Bubbles. This polish was a gift from the sweet Nicole of Polish Me, Please!

Here is my look featuring Candy Lacquer's Unicorn Bubbles. I used a base of China Glaze Tart-y for the Party on my Thumb & Pinky, China Glaze Kinetic Candy on my Pointer & Middle, and underneath the hand placed glitter on my ring finger is China Glaze Glistening Snow. Unicorn Bubbles is made up of 3 different sized circle glitters in varied colors/finishes in a clear base that is sprinkled with teal microglitter.

What do you think? Are you excited for the new group posts? Be sure to check out the other ladies of The Lacquer Ring below.

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Rose Skittles

So after all my fun Halloween nails, I wanted a little bit of a palette cleanser. I knew I wanted to use a certain glitter polish, so I picked my colors based off the glitter.

My base is China Glaze Tart-y for the Party on my Thumb, Middle and Pinky fingers. On my Pointer and Ring fingers I have China Glaze For Audrey.  I then did two coats of Pure Ice Over You on my Middle and Pinky Fingers. Over You consists of a light purple microglitter filled with teal hexes and teal bar glitter. I stamped the roses on with Sally Hansen InstaDri in Silver Sweep using the plates BM323 (big roses) and BM14 (single rose).

I really enjoyed this look, even though it isn't really seasonal. Let's face it, I'll wear what I want, when I want regardless of the season. ;-)

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Paint Drips with the Avant Garden Collection

Lately I have been painting. And not painting my nails painting (well I've been doing that too), I'm talking painting rooms in my house. I've screwed up my neck painting ceilings, thrown my back out crawling along the floor painting trim, and tomorrow I'm going to spend the day painting my front door. So I've been dreaming of paint and dreading paint. So I decided to try out the paint drip design.

I decided to pull out all my selections from the China Glaze Avant Garden collection to execute this design. I've shown you Fancy Pants and Snap My Dragon, so I decided to swatch the remaining colors I had for you, before getting to the design. *WARNING* This is going to be a picture heavy post.

Up first we have Keep Calm, Paint On. This polish for me is the perfect in-between of China Glaze For Audrey and Re-Fresh Mint. KCPO has a pretty subtle shimmer and it applies easily. I've done two regular coats here.

Next up we have Tart-y for the Party. What a fun bright pastel purple this is. Does that even makes sense? It does in my brain. I love this color. So pretty. It applies easily and I've shown two normal coats here.

For thirdseys, we have Mimosas before Manis. Based on this name, uh...yes please. In fact, can we all meet up for Mimosas. Like now. How about tomorrow? Anyways, onto the polish, this color was hard to photograph, but I love it. It's this pretty corally orange shimmer polish. Oh so pretty. It applies easily and again you see two normal coats.

Now we have Fade into Hue. I'm not quite sure how to describe this one. It's kind of a denim pale blue with some purple thrown in. Also, with the subtle shimmer, it makes for a fun polish. I have nothing like this in my collection and I'm so happy I decided to get it. This polish also applies easily and two normal coats are shown.

Finally, I have Dandy Lyin' Around. Now I have heard some people say they hate this polish, it's goopy, doesn't apply well, this WAS NOT my experience. It does go on a little sheer, so it took three easy coats. This polish for me was like every China Glaze I own (except you Lemon Fizz, hate you) and I had no issues. I love the shimmer in it as this makes it a very unique white.

Finally on to the paint drips. I saw these coming out better in my head. But they are okay I guess. I started with a base of Dandy Lyin' Around on all my fingers, the did paint drips skittles. My thumb is Fancy Pants, ring is Mimosas Before Manis, middle is Keep Calm, Paint On, ring is Tart-y for the Party.

On my right hand, I reversed the colors. Also, my right hand sucks at taking pictures and is a little beat up, so don't judge it.

Currently, I am wearing this mani covered in real paint. As I may have painted more trim yesterday.

Have you tried paint drips? Any tips for me to make them come out better?

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

That Escalated Quickly

Lately I have been on a no-buy. Not because I need to save money but more because I haven't seen anything thats caught my eye and screamed "YOU NEED ME! TAKE ME HOME!!!!" I always go look and then I leave with a sigh. People, I haven't bought polish in over a month. Can you imagine...thats not normal for me.

This weekend I went to visit the boyfriend at school. While he went to class I took myself off to the Meijer. I'd heard that they had the Color Club Halo Hues 2012 collection for fairly cheap so I went off in search of that. I've heard good things about Color Club, but I have yet to find a place that sells it where I am. How weird is that?

The good news is that I found what I was looking for and then things escalated quickly. I had no idea what a polish mecca Meijer would be. And then I stopped by Ulta, Sallys, and Groupon. Things happened. Enough talking...on to the polishes.

First up, we have my two picks from the Color Club Halo Hues 2012 Collection. I ended up going with Cherubic and Harp On It. Cherubic is a peachy neutral and Harp On It is silver.

Then I found another new brand that I'd never heard of called Studio M. Here you see Magical Attraction and Color Club Sky High, from their Take Wing Summer 2012 Collection.

Next up, I went with these two neon polishes from Studio M. I see some awesome gradients in my future with these. The purple is Thunderbolt and the orange is called Orange Sunset.

Next I stopped by Sally's just to look because they were having the buy 2 get 1 sale. I ended up with 3 polishes from their Avant Garden Collection. Fade into Hue, Mimosas Before Manis, and Tart-y for the Party.

My last stop was Ulta, just because it was on the way home. With a $2 off Sally Hansen coupon and a $3.50 Ulta coupon, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Green Tea ran me like $2 bucks. So can't pass that up right?

Then Groupon was having a sale where for $15 you get the entire Julie G Frosted Gum Drops collection. So after looking at swatches online I had to get those too. What a deal huh?

Overall, with coupons, deals, and such I only spent around $50 which is not bad at all. In fact that is really awesome. Come back tomorrow to see a manicure that I did with 2 of the new colors.

Have you had any polish binges lately? What did you get?

Enjoy & until tomorrow, Amy Lee
