Pink Studded Triangles

Hi all! Today I'm really excited to show you a look that kind of made my camera freak out a little bit. ;-) KKCenterHK recently sent over some products for me to review and today I'm going to show you the Circular Nail Studs in 2mm Pink. These studs are the perfect size, you can easily wear more than one on a nail and they are a juicy light pink color. Lets take a look at the nails. I've never had the opportunity to use studs on my nails before, so I was very excited to take these on a test run.
For the base of the nails I used Essie Off the Shoulder. Once that was dry, I taped out a big triangle using Scotch Tape and painted it with China Glaze Pool Party, a bright neon pink. After Pool Party dried, I taped off an even smaller triangle and filled it in with Butter London Snog. At the top of each triangle I placed a stud. To place the studs, I dotted on some Seche Vite top coat, placed the studs, waited a few moments, then topped the whole look with more Seche Vite.
Overall, I really like this look. The studs were great. They didn't catch on anything and wore easily. They also put up with a lot of abuse before one finally popped off.
If you are interested in getting these studs, you can find them here. There are 50pcs in a pack for $4.23.
Enjoy & until tomorrow, Amy Lee

I love discovering new polish brands and trying them out. Make it an indie brand, filled with glitter & shimmer, and you've got my favorite kind of polishes. I recently had the pleasure of getting acquainted with Nikki and her brand Flossy Lacquers. Nikki sent me four polishes to check out and I'm in love. When the box came in the mail I wanted to die from the pretty overload.
Just a quick note. On each of my swatches you'll see the polish layered over a base on my thumb, then 1 coat on the pointer, 2 coats on the middle, 3 coats on the ring, and 4 coats on the pinky finger! Lets get to it!
Up first we have Chik Chiky Boom! Chik Chiky Boom has a shimmer pink jelly base with magenta shimmer, red-magenta hexes, orange hexes, and tiny pink glitters. If you look really closely there is a smattering of fine black glitter as well, which just amps this polish up even more. I've never seen a polish combination like this one. It's very unique and very pretty. On my thumb I've layered Chik Chiky Boom over 1 coat of China Glaze Italian Red. I love the layered look, but it is also opaque after four thin coats and totally wearable on its own.
This is Barbarella meets Godzilla. Barbarella meets Godzilla is a jade jelly base filled with jade shimmer, pink hexes, and a shade brighter green hexes. The combo of glitters with the base is stunning in this polish. On my thumb you can see the polish layered over Maybelline Color Show's Tenacious Teal. This polish was the hardest one to work with as the glitters here were harder to pick up on the brush. I think next time around, I'll add some thinner. I'm hoping that will solve my problem.
Shipwrecked Sailor stole my heart as soon as I unpacked it. My GOD! How can you not love this polish, I mean LOOK AT IT!!! This polish has more of "crelly" base inbetween a creme and a jelly. Light blue base with matching shimmer and matching hexes. On my thumb I have it layered over OPI Can't Find my Czhecbook. This polish is so going to end up in regular summer rotation for me.
Up last is Bedtime Paradox. I won't lie. I was least attracted to this polish upon first receiving them. That makes it even better that this is my FAVORITE from the collection. It was a surprise winner and that makes it the best kind of winner.
Bedtime Paradox is a black jelly base filled with small holographic glitters and accented with white hexes. I love how this polish comes together. The flashes of rainbow, the jelly sandwich effect with the white hexes. Looking at these pictures makes me want to wear it again. I've layered it over Maybelline Color Show's Onyx Rush on my thumb, but as you can see 4 coats makes it just as opaque and better in my opinion.
You can visit Nikki and Flossy Lacques at her Etsy Store. Each polish retails for $7.50 which in the land of indies is so very cheap. Overall I love this collection and I'm so thankful that Nikki gave me the chance to check them out. I can't wait to wear these again and again. I'd highly recommend them to anyone, especially Bedtime Paradox. You need that in your life!!
Which polish is your favorite?
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Nail Potion #9: Tears of Mer

*this polish was provided to me for my honest review
I have been sitting on this post for a while, and let me tell you I could not be more excited about it. Recently Angela from Nail Potion #9 sent me her polish Tears of Mer to swatch & review. And OH HOLY CRAP do I LOVE this polish. Sorry things are exciting, and sometimes I need to shout my love for things. I can't control it. Warning, this is going to be a pic heavy post.
Angela has this beautiful description of her inspiration for the polish "Mer the common word for all the species, are a brave and noble race. They have at their disposal the entire ocean floor and they're quite content with just that....for now. It's said that while most races living under the deep blue have no use for tears the Mer are a passionate race. It's further said that a Mer's tears can burn the foulest and grouchiest mortal in the most emotional of people."
This polish looks like a vile of gypsy tears to me. It is so freaking pretty and sparkly. Tears of Mer has a blue jelly base packed with gold glitters and flakies that flash in the light. Have I mentioned that I love this polish yet, because I do.
This is one coat of Tears of Mer. It goes on very sheer, but the good news is it does build up nicely.
Here you see two coats, it's starting to get some good color. Man, look at that glitter. It is packed in there.
This is three coats of the polish.
And finally four. Keep in mind that I did very thin coats, so that I could see how the polish applied. I would guess that if you do 2 normal coats, you would also get to this level. After trying out the polish on bare nails, I was curious, to see how it look layered over other polishes.
Here I've done layered skittles, pinky is OPI Can't Find My Czechbook, ring is China Glaze Man Hunt, middle is Maybelline Color Show Shocking Seas, pointer is Maybelline Color Show Onyx Rush, and thumb is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Ivory Skull. Each of these different "undies" brings out a different glow in the polish. Personally I really like it over the black polish, holy cow...the sparkle!
Here I've layered two coats of Tears of Mer over OPI Can't Find My Czechbook. CFMC turned out to be the perfect base and does this polish glow.
Overall, I am in LOOOOOOVE with this polish. Application was easy, the color is gorgeous, and it shines in the sunlight. Taking this polish off is similar to glitter, you've got to let the acetone soak for a moment, and then it is all good. I got a ton of compliments when I wore this polish. For my first experience with an indie brand, I couldn't have asked for a better one. Angela is a huge sweetheart and her polishes are beautiful and well made. Go check out her shop here. As for me I have Blood of Basilisk on my wish list.
Is this a polish you would wear?
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
