#ThePolishedBookworms: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Thursday, April 30, 2015
4/30/2015 10:25:00 PM
You may remember that I'm part of a little group called The Polished Bookworms. This is a group for polish lovers to get together read a fun book, discuss, and then do a mani inspired by the book. If this sounds like something you'd like, maybe you should join us. *hint hint*
Anyways, I was inspired by the book in so many ways. There were so many quotes that stuck out. I started with a base of Zoya Storm, which is obviously the best choice for a galaxy base ever!
I then used a bunch of polishes to create a galaxy look. Light blue is Zoya Rocky, dark blue is OPI Eurso Euro, also used were Orly After Party, and Morgan Taylor If the Slipper Fits. I then stamped on stars with Uber Chic 2-03 and Sinful Colors Snow Me White, topping it all off with China Glaze Fairy Dust.
Once my galaxy was done, I decided to pay tribute to the most integral part of the book. "Don't Panic" is the first thing every time you check the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. “I like the cover," he said. "Don't Panic. It's the first helpful or intelligible thing anybody's said to me all day.” - Arthur Dent. The words were done with OPI This Gown Needs a Crown and Konad Black.
On my thumb I give you the answer to the question, the BIG question. “The Answer to the Great Question... Of Life, the Universe and Everything... Is... Forty-two,' said Deep Thought, with infinite majesty and calm.”
If you stuck it out this long, perhaps you'd like to take a peek at other ladies who did a Hitchhiker's Guide looks as well.
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

Polished Bookworms presents Gone Girls

So you may remember that I'm a member of the Polished Bookworms, a polish lovers book club. Each month we read a book that the group voted on and then create a mani based on that book. Want to join us next month, join the Facebook group here. We'll be reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
This month we read Gone Girl, and let me tell you it was a hard read for me. I just cannot get on board with either Amy or Nick as I think they are both scumbag weirdos. My mani is based off the moment when Nick discovers Amy is truly gone. The door has been left ominously open and Amy's precious indoor cat, Bleeker, is sitting on the stoop.
I did the whole mani in acrylic paints. I like the way the cat came out and the overgrown grass against the siding is good. But my door just didn't translate. It turned into a big red blob when topcoated. I did finish the whole mani in Revlon Matte Top Coat.
Be sure to check out all the other Gone Girl mani's linked below.
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

#ThePolishedBookWorms: Big Little Lies

About a month ago Lindsey over at Wondrously Polished started a facebook group called 'The Polished Bookworms' where each month we read a book, have a discussion, and then we all post themed manis based on the book. This month we read Liane Moriarity's Big Little Lies. If you haven't read it...it's a fun book with a huge twist at the end. Give it a go!
I chose to start with a base of Pretty & Polished's Blue Jean Baby. This is an aqua base filled with turquoise micro-glitters, pink squares, little round purple glitters, and turquoise diamonds. This polish choice was based off of my favorite character Madeline who wears turquoise polish and loves everything pink and girly.
I then used acrylic paints to try and recreate the American version of the book cover on my fingers. I'm not the best at free handing intricate little designs, but I gave it a go. I'm sure Lindsey will blow me away. But take a look anyways....
Be sure to check out all the other ladies who are participating below. We all had great fun reading the book together. I can't wait to see everyone's inspired looks. Next month we're reading The Maze Runner. If you care to join us, visit the Facebook Page.
Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
