Tropical Dahlia

I decided to have some fun with Cirque's Dear Dahlia. While I was playing with this collection I kept imagining it on my tropical honeymoon. I'm excited to get married,  but I'm also excited for an extended vacation lazing around on a beach with blue waters and drinks with little umbrellas. So I decided to paint some green palm type leaves and orange & blue flowers using Dear Dahlia as a base.

I then added a matte topcoat, so you can see the details a little better. I can't decide if I like shiny or matte better. What do you think?

All of the leaves/flowers were done in acrylic paint, so I don't have color names for you. Sorry.

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

#TheLacquerRing: Supernatural

#TheLacquerRing is back. This time the lovely Sibohan of For the Love of Nail Art had the pleasure of September picks. You already saw the gold mani I did, for the second prompt she chose supernatural. She said to think of things like mermaids, phoenix, etc. So I went with dragons because who doesn't want dragons on their nails.

I started off with a base of OPI Do You Have This Color in Stock-holm? (love the name) which is a beautiful blue leaning purple. I then used acrylic paints to add scales and a super cool dragon eye. Also, I'm terrible at posing with my thumb next to my fingers, please ignore awkward pose.

Then to spice things up, I used my Ciate Foil Kit to give my dragon scales some metallic shine. The foil applied a little thicker on the scales than I wanted but it looks awesome around the dragon eye.

Since I spiced up my mani with the Ciate Foil Kit, I thought I'd spice up yours as well. I bought an extra and I'm going to give you one too! Woo! Be sure to enter on the rafflecopter widget below!

So what do you think? I love the dragon eye, I can't believe I freehanded that! Don't forget to check out all the other supernatural mani's that CynthiaAmandaLesleyFrossoJessicaSiobhan, and Nicole came up with as well. You can see their looks below.

KBShimmer You're So Shellfish & Mixed Peelings

I have fun pairing for you today. These two polishes are from KBShimmers Summer Collection. You're So Shellfish is a peachy orange that reads very neon on me, so be prepared for in your face pictures. Mixed Peelings is a white crelly polish with different sized  neon hexes in green, yellow, and orange. These two paired perfectly together and were a fun look to wear for the end of summer.

How about that orange? Wowza! I warned you about it being in your face. The first picture is normal lighting in my light box, which makes You're So Shellfish read weird. The last 3 are in the light box with flash which gave me color accurate pictures to show you.

Guest Post: Voni from For the Love of Nail Art

I'm so stoked that Amy asked me to Guest Post for her and that The Lacquer Ring decided it be cool if we did wedding theme manis, so I stuck to that idea.
I've never done wedding nails but I wanted to do something different and cute.

I was inspired by the wedding manicures that Stylish Eve on Facebook posted a while ago and that's how this mani was born.

What I used:
Base and Top Coat (obviously),
A creamy, opalescent white. I don't know the name as it's a navy and white duowand Painted Fingertips got me,
I also used Tip Top - A touch of Lilac,
Lily Angel Black polish,
Essence - Be my Lucky Star.

What I did:
Painted all my nails except my ring finger with my white. It was a tiny bit brush strokey but you couldn't really see it.
Then I did a VERY soft saran wrap look using Tip Top - A brush of Lilac. I wanted to go for the look on the invites but it came out lighter than I expected. When that was dry, I topped it with Essence - Be my Lucky Star.
For the Groom/Middle Finger, I took two pieces of tape and made a triangle shape and then painted black below it for the tux. Using my dotting tool, I made the buttons and bow tie.
For the Bride/Ring Finger, I made the V shape freehand and then filled it in with the white. For her necklace, I dotted on the pearls and used a blue diamond rhinestone that I got from Lesley.
I topped my Bride and Groom with top coat and was done.

I would definitely wear this to your wedding Amy and I wish that I could make it because who doesn't need some South African flavour at their wedding ;) hehe.
I love you lots.

V xx

*V! This is so beautiful! I'm obsessed with that necklace and the tux is so amazing! Thank you for giving my corner of the Internet some South African flavor! If you haven't already, check out V's blog, it's full of polishes that make me jealous and its just plain fun to read!*

Champagne Blush & Black Orchid

So I don't know if you've already seen polishes from I Love Nailpolish's Fall Collection but I don't care because I'm going to show you two that I picked up. I already showed you Mega (L), Iconic and Fall Semester, which are all part of this collection as well.

Up first we have Champagne Blush. This is vintage pale pink packed with holographic rainbows and a gold shift. Can we say love...because I love this polish.

While I love the last polish, obsessed is a mild word to describe how I feel about Black Orchid. This is a color of the year contender for me. This is a deep burgundy purple polish filled with RAINBOWS! This color is sexy, beautiful, and so much more! Ugh I just can't describe it to you, you'll have to see for yourself.

What do you think of these two? You want both of them don't you. I can tell.

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee

China Glaze Boundary of Memory

You all saw on #StampingSaturday that I had to nubbinize. :-( Stupid breaks. If you have to go insanely short on your nails, at least a gorgeous full coverage glitter is exactly what you need to feel better. Ever since I saw promo shots for the new China Glaze The Giver collection, I knew Boundary of Memory would be mine. This polish takes me back to I Herd That and I'm Not Lion. SO FREAKING PRETTY!

So what do you think of this polish and when will you be adding it to your collection?

Enjoy & until next time, Amy Lee
